There’s something so special about the place we call home. Hamilton is near and dear to so many of us, for so many reasons…so for born and raised Hamiltonian couple, Erin and Frank, saying “I Do” at Liuna Station – a historical landmark in their hometown made perfect sense. We recently caught up with bride, Erin who filled us in on her experience at Liuna Station including their delicious wedding meal, the impressive service and gorgeous ambiance that has kept them coming back to Liuna Station time and time again.

LS: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your husband?

EL: Frank and I were both born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. We met through work and ended up finding out that we actually grew up in the same neighbourhood just a few streets away from each other. We both have a passion for travelling, love animals, and enjoy trying new and upcoming restaurants.

LS: How did Frank pop the question?

EL: It was Christmas eve and we were getting ready to leave the house. Just as we were about to leave I noticed my tuxedo cat (named Batman) had a red collar on. Batman is an indoor cat and doesn’t wear a collar so I noticed it right away. When I looked a little closer I immediately noticed the ring and right then and there Frank got down on one knee and purposed. Of course I said yes! Batman was a Valentines Day present so I love how Frank incorporated him into the proposal.

LS: There are so many wedding and event venues out there – what made Liuna Station stand out among the rest?

EL: The building speaks for itself with historic charm, beautiful decor and amazing food.  Frank and I have been to many events at Liuna which include graduations, new years eve, weddings, and fundraisers. We can both honesty say we have always been impressed with their services and the ambiance.

LS: Tell us about your experience working with your wedding planner?

EL: We worked with Patricia. She handled our large wedding party of 18 professionally and exceptionally well. She was  organized, attentive and a pleasure to work with.

LS: Describe the meal that was served on your wedding day?

EL: To start we had the antipasto classico which included prosciutto, melon, bocconcini, olives and artichokes. The second course was red and white pasta. Our entree was prime rib with vegetables and garlic roasted potatoes followed by lemon chicken and salad. A strawberry parfait and assorted mini pastries were served for dessert.

LS: Describe the quality of service you received at Liuna Station?

EL: The quality was 10/10. The staff went above and beyond decorating the ballroom. The food and bar staff were polite and attentive. They made sure everyone was taken care of at all times.

LS: Looking back, what would you say is your favourite memory from your special day?

EL: Our favourite memory of the day was our first dance in the King George Ballroom. It was such a surreal and special moment dancing for the first time as husband and wife in front of all our family and friends.

LS: Would you recommend Liuna Station to a friend for his or her next event? If so, why?

EL: I would highly recommend Liuna Station. I have been to many events at this historic venue and have never been disappointed.  Our guests are still talking about how amazing everything was. The staff’s attention to detail and the service Liuna provides makes all the difference.
