From November to January we see plenty of corporate events, holiday parties, weddings winterand staff appreciations. We know Canadian Winters can be ruthless and really chilly so having an event with delicious food and festivities to look forward to is always
heartwarming.  Many functions choose a Christmas or Winter Wonderland theme for the season but even if you are not, there are many ways your event can feel festive, romantic and warm.
Here are our suggestions to keep your winter event cozy, merry and bright!
“Warm” Décor: Blue and Silver are common for winter events, but remember that these shades are cooler and may need a warm accent. Consider adding layers and textures, such as a blue tablecloth with silver overlay for a more full and toasty appearance.  Use candles,
holiday lights, fairy lights or lanterns as part of your centrepiece for a glow of warmth.
Chair covers instantly make a room feel comfy as the metal of the chair is hidden. You don’t have to stick to traditional winter colours either! Ivory, golds, purples and emeralds are also fantastic choices for the season.  To make the event look classic and posh we recommend using crisp white linens accompanied by gold accents.renwinter
Lighting:  Consider lighting the dinner tables  with a nice warm shade of light or incorporate candles or battery operated fairy lights in your centrepieces.
Menu: Let us help you choose menu items appropriate or popular for the season. Here at Liuna Gardens we have a wide range of homemade soups such as butternut squash, potato and leek, wild mushroom. Forgo a salad and consider heartier options such as crespelle in a genovese sauce, prime rib au jus, wild mushroom risotto, loaded mashed potatoes or roasted turkey complete with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce.  Skip ice cream options for dessert and go for a warm apple blossom with fresh whipped cream. These heartier dishes are reminiscent of family dinner and are great comfort food.
Drinks: Have the bar offer warm alcoholic beverages such as specialty coffees, hot chocolates, or teas for your guests. Blueberry tea, baileys and coffee, apple cider, peppermint & chocolate liquor drinks, hot chocolate are some of the favorites.  We can make cappuccinos and lattes for those who don’t want to drink or who are the designated driver.  If hot drinks aren’t your thing, our bartenders can whip up some fantastic seasonal cocktails such as mint chocolate or candy cane martinis! Speak to a sales associate on how we can incorporate these details into your bar package.
Favours: Consider something useful and seasonal such as hot chocolate packets,  snowflakecookies pashminas, gloves coloured to your company’s colours, grabber warmers, holiday ornaments, cookie cutters, cinnamon or nutmeg spice vials, sugar cookies or smores!
Theme: Nix the winter wonderland idea! Go with a fiesta,  tropical, under the sea or other theme which reminds you of warmer days to come. Or pick a random theme and go with it!
Music: Consider playing some jazzy winter songs or acoustic versions of classical music, contemporary music, or traditional holiday tunes. Ask your coworkers if they have any festive winter or holiday music from different backgrounds and cultures too!winterballroomshot
Directions: I can’t stress this one enough. The last thing a guest wants to do in winter is get lost and drive around. Provide them with directions from Toronto, Hamilton or Niagara. It’s a small gesture but will make their travels safe and painless!
