Family Ties | LiUNA Talks Wedding Décor with Sarah and Andrew

Sarah and Andrew’s sentiment of finalizing a wedding date was a prelude to the outpour of love that would occur on their wedding day! Their simple and elegant design details elevated the room’s natural drama to create a sophisticated dark and dreamy atmosphere. From the bride and groom’s love to their fabulous guests and everything in between– this day was magic.

Tell us a bit about your event you hosted at LiUNA Station!

On June 3rd, 2023 Andrew and I hosted our wedding for 160 friends and family. Choosing June 3rd was especially important to us as June 4th is the wedding anniversary of both Andrew’s parents and grandparents.

What were some of the sources of inspiration behind the look and feel of your event?

We knew as soon as we started planning our wedding, we wanted simple, classic and elegant décor. LiUNA Station was the perfect setting and we fell in love with the venue after our first tour. From the gorgeous high ceilings in the lobby to the gold framed paintings, we knew this was where we wanted to tie the knot. To keep things simple and elegant, we decided on a black and white motif for our décor. This also ensured we weren’t taking away from the beauty of the venue. We kept the ceremony simple with white chair covers and a black runner for the aisle. Like any bride, I spent a lot of time on Pinterest and stressed occasionally that we needed some sort of backdrop like flowers behind us during the ceremony. I ultimately opted to keep the space as is, and am thrilled with how beautiful the wedding looked with the existing interior. We kept the same mentality for our reception, and accented the black and white space with pops of light pink flowers and green eucalyptus garlands. We set up black pipe and drape behind the head tables, and added black table linens and black chair covers – most people would be concerned it was too much black, but the contrast of the dark decor helped all of the candles really pop.

Share with us your number one couldn’t live without décor piece or tastiest food option from our catered menu!

The Supreme Antipasto Bar! It was a HUGE hit with our guests – the size alone is a sight to see. The variety of food from delicious cheeses to fresh seafood was absolutely incredible. We had guests raving about it for days after the event!

What is the one piece of advice you would give someone planning their big day!

Oh, can’t narrow it down to just one! Here are my top two:

1. Follow your gut – it’s easy to get caught up on social media with what other people are doing or recommending (or what friends and family are telling you, you should do). But remember it’s your wedding, it should represent you and your partner.

2. Source everything multiple times! Finding the perfect vendors is incredibly important and almost always, the most expensive vendor(s) aren’t necessarily the best ones! We had AMAZING vendors, and they went above and beyond for us to ensure everything was exactly how we wanted it.

What moment during your event will forever be etched into your memory?

Honestly, the entire day was perfect! Sneaking into the reception hall before the guests were allowed in and seeing our décor for the first time was an amazing feeling. After a year of planning and stressing, just seeing your vision come to life felt incredibly satisfying. But all of the other moments tied into that – seeing my husband for the first time as I walked down the aisle, the first look with my Father, the rave reviews from our guests – the entire day was magical!

Tell us all your secrets! Your event was so beautiful and we must know your vendor list!

I cannot rave enough about how amazing our vendors were, they truly went above and beyond to help and support us throughout the entire process, especially LiUNA Station!
