Ariana & Andrew hosted their wedding at LiUNA Station in the Continental Express Ballroom, blending tradition with deeply personal touches. From a trivia game with every answer the same, to a video of themselves photoshopped into guests’ photos, to celebrating the bride’s brother’s 19th birthday with a Three’s Company introduction and dessert candles, no detail was ordinary. It was a day full of laughter, love, and memories their guests will cherish forever.

Tell us a bit about your event you hosted at LiUNA Station!

“We hosted our wedding at LiUNA station.

We wanted it to be traditional but highly personal. With that, we chose to incorporate our love of elaborate jokes and unique touches as much as possible.

We had a general trivia portion where every answer was the same, a video presentation where we photoshopped ourselves into our guest’s photos, we celebrated the bride’s brother’s 19th birthday by having him introduced before us to the Three’s Company theme song, we surprised him with candles in his dessert as the guests sang happy birthday to him, and we had the bride’s illustrator father draw a cartoon of us to put on all the stationary.

Our goal was to subvert expectations and give guests a day they’d never forget.”

What were some of the sources of inspiration behind the look and feel of your event?

“We used the vintage charm of the Continental Express ballroom at LiUNA Station as the inspiration for almost every design element in the wedding. We then added our own quirky touches with movie posters, illustrations of us, and bold colours scattered throughout with pale gold being our staple (again, to match the room).”

Share with us your number one couldn’t live without décor piece or tastiest food option from our catered menu!

“Our number one decor piece that we couldn’t live without was the 3 foot by 5 foot foam core cutout of the illustration the bride’s dad drew of us that we placed on the welcome table. It was a cool conversation piece that guests could take pictures with.

Our guests raved about all the food, but our personal favourite dish was the pumpkin ravioli. It was a wonderful seasonal introduction to the quality meal we were in store for.”

What is the one piece of advice you would give someone planning their big day!

“Instead of trying to plan the perfect wedding that you see everywhere else, find opportunities and moments  to make your wedding uniquely you. Those are the things your guests and you will remember most.

PS. Do as much research as you can when selecting your vendors. You’re spending a lot of money on them and they can make or break your wedding.”

What moment during your event will forever be etched into your memory?

“We will forever remember our entrance. We ran through the doors to AM180 by Pup, a song that nobody else knew but was sentimental to us. We immediately split off into the crowd to hi-five our cheering guest. It was a special reminder that we were surrounded by people that love us as we start our lives together.”

MVP – What vendor couldn’t you live without?!

We have two answers. One LiUNA Station. The space was beautiful and there was on top of everything. They made wedding planning feel almost not so daunting.   Two, The Big Day for our photos and video. They were incredibly  receptive, collaborative, willing to adapt  to our goofy energy, and made us look like better version of  ourselves.

Please let us know who can we credit each of the photos to?
