Vintage Vibes | Spending The Day With Jessie & Scott!
Our building has shared many paths with many people over the years – It’s one of the things we love about LiUNA Station. It not only binds love together but it reminds us of community and being a part of something bigger than ourselves. So when Jessie and Scott shared with us that their Oma had passed through our lobby doors many years ago, the same lobby that they would celebrate and commit their love in to one another many years later, we had a total ‘AWE’ moment!
Tell us a bit about your event you hosted at LiUNA Station!
We held our ceremony in The Grand Lobby, and it was just absolutely gorgeous! We had the red carpet and the stage at the front. We did our first look prior to the ceremony in front of the fountain and it was so beautiful! We had coffee and refreshments in the King George Lobby with all of our guests. Cocktail hour was served there as well just before our reception began in the King George Ballroom. The food and service was just fantastic! All of our guests had nothing but great things to say about the day.
What were some of the sources of inspiration behind the look and feel of your event?
We were going for a more vintage theme, and LiUNA Station made that vision come to life. The history of the building along with the décor made our day so amazing. It is such a majestic building which we just loved. We both thoroughly love history and LiUNA is brimming with it. Our great Oma came by boat from Holland to Canada, and took the train from Nova Scotia to this train station. She is 93 and was able to celebrate our wedding with us there! She hadn’t been back there since she came by train and she said it brought back so many memories.
What is the one piece of advice you would give someone planning their big day!
Don’t stress over all the little details, more than likely not everything will go exactly as planned and you just have to go with the flow of the day. You can plan as much as you want, but don’t get upset if a few minor details don’t turn out exactly as you had imagined. Take time to just relax and enjoy your day! You are marrying the love of your life and in the end that is the most important thing. The wedding is one day, but marriage is for life!
What moment during your event will forever be etched into your memory?
The first look was one of the most unforgettable moments. Seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day was so fun. Everything felt so surreal, and we were overjoyed to finally be able to see each other after such a fun morning getting ready for what was to be the best day. We both were quite emotional, and our photographer and videographer captured the moment beautifully.
