We caught up with the extremely talented (and busy) Code Red Cakes! Owner, Lead Baker and Designer, Meaghan Stewart who creates the most magically delicious creations – Cakes, cupcakes, sugar cookies, macaroons and more! What is your design process like? 

I like to work with the client to come up with the design if it’s something they sent pictures for I’ll let them know I don’t copy other designs and together we work to put a unique spin on it and make it their own 

 

What is the rule of thumb when ordering dessert/cake for your event? 

As long as it’s not for the next day I’m ok with anything- I don’t really have rules regarding time. 

I usually like 2 weeks for a wedding so I have time to plan and design and make sugar flowers if going on a cake as they are most time consuming for me.

 

How many cakes/ sweets do you make a year and what is your favourite part about being in the industry? 

Honestly I have no idea how many I make as it always varies with time of year and work. 

I love doing this! I started this during the covid pandemic as a way to escape the stress of working at the hospital as a nurse.

I love baking it’s a form of therapy for me to help relax in stressful times in life and work
