Tell us a bit about your event you hosted at LiUNA Station!
“We had the pleasure of having our wedding at LiUNA. We held our ceremony outside on the main steps of the building, and were told we were the first couple to do so. We had our reception in The King George Ballroom.”
What were some of the sources of inspiration behind the look and feel of your event?
“I wanted the vibe for our wedding to be very timeless with a flair of vintage. I have been in the wedding industry for over 15 years, and am local to Hamilton, so I knew when we got engaged, LiUNA was the place I wanted to have our wedding. The building alone is beautiful, but the interior also beautifully enhances the existing features of the historic building.”

“There is so much! I did a lot myself, there were so many personalized details sprinkled throughout the day. I think one that really meant a lot to me was our cake table. Not only was our cake stunning and delicious, but we had a photo of my grandparents from their wedding almost 65 years ago of them cutting the cake beside it, which was made even more meaningful as my grandfather passed away a few months later.”
What is the one piece of advice you would give someone planning their big day!
“If you want something, just ask, and nothing is too crazy. When I first told my mom that I wanted to get married outside, she and all the staff at LiUNA thought I meant in front of the fountain. She was skeptical of my idea to get married with the building as the backdrop. But I was determined, and even after speaking about it with Paticia, she wasn’t even sure it was possible. But thank goodness I asked, because we got approval and it was the most amazing backdrop for our ceremony.”
What moment during your event will forever be etched into your memory?
“The day we got married it was very gloomy and raining on and off all morning. I kept my hopes high that it would pass and we could still get married outside. Luckily the rain stopped and the skies stayed overcast for the majority of the day. Although I will never forget that during our vows for a few minutes the clouds broke and the sun came through. It was such a magical moment and both me and my husband stopped just to look and smile at each other.”
