Let’s Talk Florals

Earlier this year, we caught up with one of our wonderful vendors, Paula Verrecchia, Owner/Operator of La Fiora Floral and Event Décor, who said that when it comes to florals, 2017 was all about the natural look. “The trend right now is very “organic” earthy colored florals and layers of textured greens. From Dusty Miller and Bruna berries to layers of seeded eucalyptus, Israeli ruscus and wax flower. All come together to create a soft, gorgeous and natural look. Not so much bling in the bouquets and more in the way of feminine mixed with rustic ribbon wrapped handles.” For 2018 we discovered that the natural look will sill be a big trend. Also, prepare yourself for wreathes, long after the holiday season has passed – wedding wreaths will be all the rage in 2018 – how fun!

Brides Magazine writes that “Wispy grasses, sweet smelling eucalyptus and wild flowers, these bohemian rings will have your guests impressed by your modern flower installations!”

Not Your Average Dinner

At Liuna Station, we’re known for our classic, delicious menu…but that doesn’t mean that we don’t know how to spice things up! Liuna Station’s General Manager, Vico Rosatone says that “Moonlight buffets are a big thing as of late, people are adding fun foods like poutine station, pulled pork sliders, crepes station, Pasta sautéed with Garlic and Olive Oil (Pasta Aglio e Oglio) etc.” Our executive chefs are always looking for new ways to impress every guest who sits down at our table.  The word on the street is that 2018 couples might opt for less traditional dining – like swapping out the standard 3 or 5 course meal for family style, shared tapas or a buffet. Even if you’re keeping your wedding local, the food doesn’t have to be! According to Brides Magazine, “For 2018 we predict more alternative options like Mexican, Japanese and Peruvian inspired cuisine – with tacos, sushi and ceviche on the menu.”

It’s All in the Details

Wedding planning is a lot of work, but don’t think that the effort you put in, will go unnoticed! It’s often the little things, the things that represent the personalities of the couple that are remembered most. Depending on the size of your guestlist, there’s a chance that some guests may not get much time with the bride and groom on their special day, so it’s important to make each guest feel like they were noticed and that their attendance was appreciated. A little welcome note next to the dinner plate or a handwritten place card can go a long way in making a wedding feel personal. Get creative with your stationary – Suzie, founder of wedding and event planning and styling Knot & Pop says that “for 2018 we are seeing couples being more adventurous with the choice of material used. You don’t always need to think in ‘paper’. Fabric, perspex and natural elements such as stone and wood, can all be used to add a twist to the traditional paper stationery suite.”

Move Over Superman

Not all superheros wear capes…but we hear that the brides will be! We are absolutely loving the look of the bridal cape – something we expect to see a lot more of, come 2018. There is something so beautiful and regal about a bride with a little something extra draped over her shoulders. “Extravagant Capes Wedding cover ups are back in a big way… Inspired by the catwalk, chic flowing capes are a huge trend for brides getting married in 2018. Choose full length flowing numbers or heavily embellished styles to make a big entrance.”
